Field Camera Production
Learn basic shooting, audio recording, and production skills to create quality programs to air on Marin TV. This core class offers hands-on training with Sony X70 camcorders, wired and wireless hand-held and lavalier microphones, tripods, and monopods. Equipment safety and check-out/check-in procedures will also be covered.
Successful completion of this class will certify Marin residents to check out equipment for 48-96 hours at a time, up to four times a month per video project. You must attend all three sessions to become certified.

Studio Production

Final Cut Pro Editing
Familiarize yourself with the entire editing process, from importing media files to exporting a complete piece. Get comfortable using editing tools, effects, titles, and transitions, as well as FCPX’s new organizational system. Certification in FCPX is required to use the CMCM editing lab. Students must attend all three sessions to receive certification, which is required to use the CMCM editing lab.

Davinci Resolve Editing
Learn the ins and outs of DaVinci Resolve, a non-linear video editing program that combines editing, color correction, visual effects, motion graphics, and audio post-production all in one software tool. Davinci Resolve is a free download for both Mac and PC.

Youth Media Academy
The Community Media Center of Marin is proud to offer our student educational program, the Youth Media Academy (YMA).
The Youth Media Academy provides Marin high school student with professional-quality training in audio & video production, including field camera operation, studio production, and post-production editing. The workshops are filled with activities engaging participants in a cohesive and entertaining educational experience. This is a great hands-on opportunity for any student to become completely immersed in digital media production. Once students complete workshops they have member access to the facilities at CMCM to produce their own work to air on Marin TV.
The suite of Youth Media courses are offered in the Spring and Fall, so sign up today to be included. The annual student membership fee is $25 and currently the additional course fees are waived thanks to the support of the Marin Community Foundation Community Power Initiative.
