For decades, armed groups have been fighting each other in Colombia, over money, drugs or power. Although only few are involved with these groups the majority of the population is suffering as a consequence. Only with the help of human rights organizations can the victims find a voice - but these activists live dangerously too. Mirja Peters is present on many missions to ensure that nothing happens to the local human-rights workers. She works for the international organization PBI, an international NGO that has been promoting nonviolence and protecting human rights since 1981. Mirja Peters’ job is something like a bodyguard, but she works without weapons or bullet-proof vest. She provides moral support for local activists to carry out their work without fear of repression.
