Each semester, the Institute for Leadership studies hosts the Leadership Lectures Series, in partnership with Book Passage, highlights extraordinary individual, organizational and societal leadership. The Lecture Series seeks to promote constructive change in our community and its organizations by bringing to Dominican University of California some of the country's leading figures from the world of business, politics, entertainment, academia, and literature. The essence of leadership is based on empowering individuals, organizations and societies to forgo the status quo and find new ways to solve complex challenges. Dr. Sacks will explore the mysteries of the mind based on his four-decade journey where he has encountered an unshakable human capacity in the face of seemingly insurmountable forces. In his newest book, Musicophilia: Tales of Music and the Brain, Dr. Sacks investigates the power of music to move us, to heal and to haunt us.
